2 out of 3 people are partially dehydrated!

2 out of 3 people are partially dehydrated!

The human body consists mostly of water.

The body of a newborn baby consists of 85% of water and as we grow older this percentage falls to 65%. Some organs such as the brain contain 85% of water.

Most people believe that because we drink refreshments and beverages during the day, they are enough to keep us adequately hydrated.

In fact, however, most of them have opposite effects because they cause diuresis and sweating due to their caffeine and sugar content.

Also, intense physical activity during the summer months is known to cause dehydration.

According to Dr. Tsoukalas 2 out of 3 people are partially dehydrated.

Thermometer on summer day showing high temperature near 45 degrees

Some of the side effects of dehydration are chronic fatigue, constipation, obesity, high cholesterol, hypotension, hypertension, premature aging, and urinary tract infections.

Adequate intake of clean, high quality bottled water like Nera Kritis is an excellent choice to keep your body hydrated especially during the summer when temperatures go up.

Choose your favourite type of bottle from our selection so you can take it with you everywhere.

Drink water often and stay hydrated!

How to relax and entertain a kid in 5 seconds!

You can both enjoy great quality time!

Put some lukewarm water in a plastic container,or in a plastic pool, or even in a tub about a third (⅓) full from top.

Put some floating plastic toys in.

You could use our specially designed bottles, Neraki from Nera Kritis, for kids. Just fill the bottles about halfway from top and close the lid. The bottles will float and you can put on an act using the bottles as puppets.

Place the container on the floor…

And bring the child!

Ideal for some good summer fun!

Show your child how to play with the puppet-bottles and encourage it to put on an act for you.

You will be having lots of fun and laughs!

Please keep in mind that you will probably both get soaked and the floor will be slippery, so having some towels near you will be helpful.

Do not leave the kid unattended.

Refreshing Summer infusions!

Infusion is what you get when you soak fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices into water. This results to a flavoured water that contains some of their  qualities, like vitamins and minerals. A cup of tea is a perfect example of an infusion.

You can easily make your own fresh infused water to help you increase your daily intake of water and keep yourself adequately hydrated. It will also help you to reduce the consumption of beverages and refreshments, which are packed with sugar. One of the easiest, tastiest and healthiest infusion recipe we’d recommend that you could try on your first attempt, is Mint and Strawberry infused water.

Take our 1,5L Nera Kritis bottled water and remove a glass of water. Slice 10 to 15 strawberries in small pieces and put them in the bottle. Add five to six fresh mint leaves in the bottle.

Close the bottle and put it in the refrigerator. You should let it to blend for at least 4 hours. When you wish to drink your infused water, take a coffee filter and adjust it on the bottle’s lid with a rubber band before pouring it into your glass, to avoid having fruit, seeds and other particles in it .

Almost done!

You can keep it refrigerated for about 24 hours since strawberries can easily go bad, unless you filter your infusion as soon as you open it, into another clean bottle. Keep in mind that Nera Kritis bottled water is naturally alkaline (ph 8). Those of you who follow an alkaline diet probably know that strawberries are alkaline too, so this makes this infusion an ideal combination for alkaline diets. You can further boost alkalinity by adding a few drops of lemon.

You will need:

  • 1.5L Bottle of Nera Kritis Water
  • Fresh Strawberries
  • Fresh or Dry Mint
  • Coffee Filter

You can you use a great variety of fruits, herbs, vegetables and spices to create your own personalized combinations to experiment with. Just try to keep a balance with what you select to use. Enjoy the fun and healthy benefits infusion has to offer!

Crete. Our Homeland!

Our Crete

With this post, we would like to introduce ourselves and share with you our love for Crete.

We think that when you see a bottled water on a supermarket’s shelf even if you are capable of understanding the water’s chemical analysis on the label, you will not be able to understand where this water really comes from.

You can’t imagine the unspoiled and outstandingly beautiful island where our water originates! The Varypetro spring of Therissos. Where we respectfully collect and constantly test it, before and after being bottled, under the strictest quality standards. Then we carefully ship it to where you find it.

Our water comes from Crete, the biggest and most diverse island in the southern part of Greece,in fact.

The outstanding nature

A Nera Kritis bottle of water is born at the same place where the Minoan civilisation thrived for over 1000 years and then became extinct probably by the eruption of the Santorini (Thira) volcano.

The same place where the fascinating myths of the Minotaur and Crete’s association  with the lost island of Atlantis, still live on.

It comes from the same place where the White Mountain oversees the cyclades islands in the Aegean and the picturesque terrain of unique variety like the Samaria gorge.

The same place where the famous crystal clear, exotic beaches of Crete like the palm forest beach of Vai, the pink coloured beach of Elafonisi, and Balos beach, will claim a place in your heart at first sight.

Our water is born where unique herbs like diktamo(a type of herb for making tea) and animals like the kri kri (a type of wild goat protected by law) thrive.

And last, but not least, our water is proud to share the same homeland with some globally known Cretans – like the famous painter El Greko (Domenikos Theotokopoulos), Vitsentzos Kornaros writer of Erotokritos, Odysseas Elytis a Nobelist in literature, Nikos Kazantzakis the famous writer of Zorba the Greek who was  nominated for the Nobel prize 9 times and John Aniston, actor,  who is Jennifer Aniston’s father – to name just a few.

So, the next time you see a Nera Kritis bottled water on a supermarket’s shelf, you will know what it means.

It means Cretan Water, it comes from one of the most gifted places on earth and it’s a piece of Crete!
